ABOUT

The Cambridge University German Society was founded in 1908 and consists of students who share a common interest in German society, culture, and history. We aim to encourage intercultural discussions by providing a platform for mutual exchange for both Germans and non-Germans. Our Society welcomes members of all nationalities. We regularly organise talks, exchanges with other societies, and social events.

See our Hall of Fame for speakers who have visited us in the past and check out our Termcard to find out more about our events!

    18:30-22:00
    2017.01.26

Join the European and German Societies for a joint film night! We will be screening “The Lives of Others” (imdb 8.5) in German with English subtitles! The movie is about the monitoring of an artist in former East Germany. We are very happy that Dr Henning Grunwald from the Department of History has agreed to give a talk (about 20mins) before the screening as a short introduction, followed by a chance for questions. The talk will begin at 6:30 and the movie at around 7:10. As usual, we will provide Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. The location will be announced soon!

    Attendance is free.

    17:00-21:00
    2017.01.27

To all German-speaking members of the CU German Society,

Oliver Wyman and your Committee would like to invite you all to our first Partner event of this Lent term in 2017. Oliver Wyman has joined our society as a partner this year and as one of the world’s most prominent management consultancy firms is very much looking forward to getting to know many of you very soon.

Together with Oliver Wyman, we would like to kindly invite our German-Speaking members to an informative and introductory get together at Magdalene College here in Cambridge on the 27th of January 2017 at 5 pm. All are welcome; whether you have just started your undergraduate degree or indeed are about to submit your PhD. Get to know former students of our university that now work as consultants for Oliver Wyman, ask any questions you may have and find out about the numerous opportunities that Oliver Wyman can offer you and your future career aspirations. It definitely promises to be an exciting event and we urge all of you to apply if indeed you want to know more. The event shall conclude with a dinner and will open plenty of space for all questions to be answered.

In order to indicate your interest, please send an email to recruiting.germany@oliverwyman.com including your CV as well as any transcripts with grades you can provide. Interested students are asked to send in their requests by Friday, the 20th of January 2017 at the latest.

Further information can be found in the flyer attached and if you have any other questions, please just get in touch and we are more than happy to help you if we can. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there to continue with the amazing success of our numerous events last term! Until very soon in Lent!
