What real creative freedom feels like in a theme

ABOUT

The Cambridge University German Society was founded in 1908 and consists of students who share a common interest in German society, culture, and history. We aim to encourage intercultural discussions by providing a platform for mutual exchange for both Germans and non-Germans. Our Society welcomes members of all nationalities. We regularly organise talks, exchanges with other societies, and social events.

See our Hall of Fame for speakers who have visited us in the past and check out our Termcard to find out more about our events!

The Cambridge University German Society warmly invites you to our first speaker event of Easter Term!

Wolfgang Silbermann heads the division for speeches and publications in the Office of the Federal President of Germany, Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier. He has worked for Dr Steinmeier in various prior positions: as Economic Policy Advisor during his campaign for the chancellorship in 2009, as Legislative Aid during Dr Steinmeier’s tenure as Leader of the Opposition in the German Bundestag, and as Advisor and Chief Speechwriter in the Federal Foreign Office.
