Michael Grosse-Brömer Speaking at Clare College

We are very happy to present Michael Grosse-Brömer as our first speaker of Lent Term!

Michael Grosse-Brömer is the Chief Whip of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag. He was elected as such in May 2012.

In addition, Michael Grosse-Brömer serves as a member of the Parliamentary Council of Elders (“Ältestenrat”), the Parliamentary Commission on the Legal Status of Members of the Bundestag (“Rechtsstellungskommission”), the Committee for the Election of Judges (“Richterwahlausschuss”), and the Joint Committee of German Bundestag and Bundesrat (“Vermittlungsausschuss”).

Michael Grosse-Brömer was first elected into the German Bundestag in 2002. In 2006, he became a member of the Executive Committee of the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group in the German Bundestag. From 2009 to 2010, he served as the chairman of the working group on legal affairs. Following this, Michael Grosse-Brömer became the Parliamentary Group’s legal advisor.

Michael Grosse-Brömer earned his final degree in Law from the University of Hamburg in 1992. He worked as a lawyer with focus on building law and administrative law. He was appointed as civil laws notary in the Federal State of Lower Saxony in 2001. In May 2009, he ceased practising as a notary.

At our CUGS Event, Michael Grosse-Brömer will speak about “Zwischen Trump, Brexit und Bundestagswahl: Deutschland und Europa im Wahljahr 2017”. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
